Jog Falls Weekend Getaway
Overview
Jog Falls — India's second-highest plunge waterfall — sees the Sharavathi river break into four thunderous streams (Raja, Rani, Roarer and Rocket) before diving into a deep gorge. In monsoon and post-monsoon, it is absolutely spectacular.
This weekend trip pairs the falls with the tranquil Linganamakki reservoir viewpoint and a scenic drive through the lush Sharavathi Valley.

Frequently Asked Questions
When is the best time to visit Jog Falls?
June to November is the best window — the falls are at their thundering best. Post-February, water flow reduces significantly due to the upstream Linganamakki dam.
Can we go down to the base of the falls?
There is a steep 1,400-step trail to the base. It is doable for fit visitors but not recommended in monsoon due to slippery steps.
Is Jog Falls suitable for families and seniors?
Yes. The main viewpoints are all accessible and offer clear views without any trekking. The 1,400-step descent is optional.
Can we add Sirsi / Yana / Murudeshwara?
Yes. Jog Falls combines beautifully with Sirsi (Marikamba Temple), Yana Rocks and Murudeshwara temple for an extended 3–4 day itinerary.
Is there mobile network at Jog?
Basic mobile coverage exists at the main viewpoint and hotel areas. Signal can be patchy inside the valley — plan accordingly.
